So I just purchased my new Cutwater 28 and I think I'm having issues with the wine cooler. No matter how low I set the thermostat on it I can not get it to chill below 65F. My dealer reached out to Cutwater and they are claiming it can only cool 20F below ambient. Right now I have the A/C on so the cabin temp is 85F. Does that mean without the A/C and the cabin temp gets above 90F I can only expect my wine cooler to be 70F+? That doesn't seem to be much of a cooler to me then. Does having the wine cooler only cooling 20F check with other owners' experiences with it? Thanks!

Yes this sounds correct. It's not the same type of fridge in our homes (which have compressor pumps, etc). The fridge in our boats use DC electricity for efficiency (which is actually pretty neat) Read this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoelectric_cooling

Also a little tip: make sure the back of the fridge has a bit of air circulation so the heat it does transfer/generate has somewhere to go. Other owners have installed fans but I simply leave my door panel cracked.

Hi, Just reading old posts, so this may be a few years late.We had a wine cooler on our Cutwater 28 and had the same problem. So when we moved up to a Cutwater 30cb, we had dealer remove the wine cooler. They put a nice door on the opening that matches the rest of the boat woodwork, and presto we have another storage cabinet..Much better!!
