Guys,

I was cleaning out the starboard cabinet for the winter and I accidently pulled the wire with the fuse for the bilge pump. This is the type of fuse that has a wire on both sides. The wire came out of the left side. How do I re-install that wire into the fuse holder. I am sure that there is a trick to this, as there is with eveything. If I need to get a replacement part West Marine is right around the corner.

Thanks

Mark

Mark, it would be easier to replace the whole shebang. Cut the wires as close as you can to the fuse holder, buy a new one with pigtails on it, strip the wires and splice it in. Best to use a crimp on connector to affix it. Make sure you use the same size fuse. You can buy an inexpensive crimping tool (like pliers) and fittings at an auto parts store, a lot cheaper than a marine store.

Thanks Charlie,

It seems pretty clear now that you explain it. WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT? 😳

It is this type of thing that makes this website worth its weight in gold

Thanks again.

Mark,
One other suggestion on this, use the heat shrink wrap once you get it all put together. This will help keep moisture out.

Thanks David, I'll do that for sure.

Just a helpful tip. Any wire connection on a boat that has a possibility of getting wet needs to either have heat shrink tubing on it or a Heat shrink connector.

You can buy the heat shrink butt connectors at any marine supply.
