Wiring pathway from cabin top to electrical panel?

Does the factory have documentation showing the wiring route in place on a C248 that passes radar, nav light, etc. wiring from the topside deck penetrations down to the electrical panel above the 'quarterberth'? I would like to add some solar panels on the cabin top, surely a common owner upgrade and one I believe the factory offered. It's just not clear to me what pieces of the interior are intended for disassembly for this purpose. Can you get me started, please?

Hi Jack,

Unfortunately, I can't give you a more complete answer, as I haven't worked directly with the 248 for some time, but the best place to run wiring down from a solar panel would be the post between the cabin door and the flip window, or the outer pillar behind the port cabin speaker. Both of those will lead down to an area where you could then remove the rat fur panels that surround the electrical panel in the quarter berth. My hunch would be that the pillar between the door and flip window would be best, as it runs directly down to the area behind the rat fur panel over the fuse block. That's the one right inside the q-berth entry, looking aft. You can look around that area and see which panels can be removed for better access. Not sure how easy it is from the ceiling down without being able to see for myself, but you should be able to find a route to that area. Hope this helps get you started, but let us know.

Kudos to you, Ralf, for giving a go at what might be workable. The boat's ~450 miles away at the moment but I'll get a chance to poke around during the survey. So I appreciate you getting me a head start. Led's see if anyone else knows the 'mystery' and is willing to share it. Cheers.

On my 2018 C-24 I have three removable panels in the rear of the cabin. Two outer corner ones and one in the ceiling at the rear. The VHF antenna wire runs down the starboard side and I believe that my radar wires run down the center cavity between the flip up window and door. The #3 small fuse panel is behind the small wall at the entrance of the cave next to the door which have wires coming from everywhere. I trimmed that removable wall so that it comes out easy to access the fuse panel. I will check today or tomorrow to see if the center cavity is used or usable.

I just went out to my boat and removed the panel that accesses the fuse panel. The center cavity between the door and flip up window is not open. All wires coming from starboard side go under the door sill which has a large tube and cavity for wires. If someone is going to the batteries or main electrical panel I would think you would go down the port side rear cavity. This is just my assumption.
