I am going to cut the head door in half and install hinges for better access when bed is down. Can you please tell me what product you use to finish the wood doors.
Do you have a picture of the new Ranger 23’s head door I am told the factory now installs hinges in the door.
Thanks
Glenn

Glenn - I don't think there is any finish on the head door, other than some teak oil or something. When I cut my door, I just used some darker wood stain I had in my shop, applied with a foam brush and installed. Not a perfect match, but it is a small crack in the head (no pun intended!) that is not really seen. You can see a picture of my door in my gallery.

Hamster,

I have unbelievable respect for anyone who can work with wood. It tends to split when I simply look at it. I don't have an R23 but I did take a look at your door modification just for interest. One question jumped to mind. Is that keyed lock on the upper left to lock crew members IN the head when they are about to mutiny? 😉

Glenn,

If the change in color does not bother you, teak oil will suffice. If not, adding a dark wood stain should work just fine.

After my cut I added a piece of batten fastened to one side of the door. Covers the cut nicely. See my gallery -Subject-‘The Hatch’
Whatever you do its a nice upgrade. No Regrets

I used 1/4" stick on foam insulation to seal the crack after the cut. I didn't see it posted, caution, the door only has one square side/edge.
