Worn Upholstery

2019 Ranger R31 CB.
The sides of several cushions (brown edging) is getting very worn (see picture). Anyone else have this problem, and/or a good solution?

Looks like very standard degradation of some upholstery vinyls... Had that happen to three sets of cushions on two prior vessels and the only solution I ever found was to have new cushions made with better materials.

Yep, take it all to upholstery shop (marine or auto) and get it replaced with better materials. Been there, done that!
PS: Cost about 6-7 years ago to do dinette seats, helm chair, v-berth bolsters was $1,200.

My 2018 R31 doesn't show any signs of degradation, and I have 2 dogs that are rough on things. I'm curious, where are you located? I wonder if humidity and/or heat could increase wear, being in the PNW we don't have either of those issues.

I bit the bullet and replaced the foam and coverings for the “table” seats + the Captains chair this year in my 31.
Removal of the seats was fairly straight forward, a time consuming process like everything in boating I’m learning. happy to bring you through it, DM me.

My C26 suffered serious vinyl dandruff - think the PO didn't bother closing the curtains. Replaced the works (RCB Surrey BC): upholstery, carpets, curtains. Photos attached - the job was reasonably priced, quick turnaround once the Sunbrella inserts showed up, pleased with it but for the pattern-reversal on the stern seat.

That’s a little surprising I’m assuming you pull the shades/curtains whenever you leave the boat and apply 303 or similar two or three times a year. That should have prevented what looks like simple sun degredation.

My dinette seats are all fabric, so when the helm seat was flaking terribly, I replaced it with $14 worth of upholstery fabric.
If you've recovered furniture before, it's not too difficult. A bit of sewing, spray glue and stainless staples.

Very happy with how it turned out!
