Hoping this is a dumb question!

I have a 2017 R23 with a 2017 Yamaha F200. I get engine data on my GPSmap7600 but can’t find the Yamaha Gauge “page” anywhere on the Garmin.

I know the Yamaha has to communicate via the NMEA bus and obviously there is some communication of data but I’m wondering if:
A) I’m dumb and can’t find the right page for some reason
B) the 2017 R23 and Yamaha didn’t have the right “configuration” to have the Yamaha gauge page
C) Something isn’t connected properly?

I’m hoping for C, would accept B but wouldn’t be surprised if the answer is A.

Couple things are possible...

-Early Yamaha to nmea2000 gateways simply translate the engine data and do not "unlock" the Yamaha page in the 7600 series.

-Early 7600 series displays did not have the J1939 port to allow connection directly to the commandlink+ hub which would "unlock" the Yamaha page.

-Rarely seen but possible is the Yamaha 6YC gauge can be hooked to the binnacle controls via the 6X8 harness connector making it use commandlink instead of commandlink+, and the hub is directly connected to nmea2000 which does not "unlock" the Yamaha page.

Couple options...

If you have a Yamaha dealer that will let you return a product, you can buy the new "MAR-Gateway" and after replacing your old gateway and turning on both the Garmin system and the engine(s) you will unlock the Yamaha page on the 7600. You can then remove the gateway and return it to the dealer and reinstall your old gateway. As long as you don't perform a factory reset on the Garmin display the Yamaha feature will remain unlocked and properly read the data from your old gateway without any issues.

Alternatively if you have commandlink+ and a newer 7600 with the j1939 port, you can buy the Garmin Yamaha adapter cable and a Yamaha pigtail bus cable. Just plug it into the screen and the Yamaha hub and the feature should unlock and be all good to go. The 7600 does not bridge the j1939 data to nmea2000 so you would still want to leave your old gateway in place for other systems that may be using the engine data from the network (if you have any, such as electronic steering, etc...)
