yamaha extended warranty

My Cutwater 31c is one year old with a Yamaha 250 and I wanted to know if anyone has had an experience with the extended warranty or any breakdown that they wish they had it.

Our 2018 R-23 came with an extended warranty that was purchased by the original owner. So far, at 450 hrs, we’ve not had any engine issues but it’s nice to have just in case but I’d probably not purchase this option if I was buying a new boat.

My previous boat came with a Y.E.S from Yamaha. Had the boat 3 years and never used it. Current boat with a 250 Yamaha didn't come with one and when they tried to sell me one I remember I never used it on the last boat, so I opted not to get it. Now 300 hours and 3 years later with this boat I think I made the right decision.

It could be useful, but I decided that the Yamaha normally is a good engine and if you do maintenance as recommended it should be a bit before you run into serious problems.

A warranty is like insurance, get it if you can't afford the cost to repair.

interesting……..just found my yamaha warranty card and it expires in 2023. Wondering why they would try and sell me one after one year?

Sometimes they do that at a less expensive cost and extend it out further than you currently have.
