Has anyone put together a list of suggested spares for an extended trip with an outboard? Specifically the F200.

I am looking online but not finding anything, at least not yet, so I thought that I would ask here.

Clearly all filters, an impeller, thermostat would be on that list, but what else?

Thanks,

Jim

Did you look under- Ranger Tugs Factory Support-->Ranger Factory Technical Bulletins-->Spare Parts Updated Lists-->R-23 Yamaha Outboard Parts form.xlsx?
Or are you looking for more than what is there?

More than what is there. That is a boat spares list for an outboard Ranger. I am looking for a list of what a guy should have onboard on a trip to Alaska, specifically for the motor.

I had the Yamaho F90 outboard on my last boat and found out the hard way (Friday afternoon rushing to go out and hooked the battery cables up backwards 😳 ) that there are built-in fuses hidden under the engine cover in the motor. Had it not been for a very helpful tech who was willing to step me through finding them, my weekend would have been shot. I always carried spares for those fuses after that. You might check if your F200 has hidden fuses too.

The combination of parts you and others mentioned is a good start. I would also include:

1. Spare prop, prop nut & washer, securing pin - make sure you pull the prop and grease the shaft before you leave to make it easier to remove the prop if necessary
2. Spark plugs
3. Along with the normal fuel filters there are normally Internal fuel filters, my Honda had 2
4. I would get the complete impeller kit which normally includes not only the impeller but also the housing and shaft seals
5. I don’t know if the Yamaha 200 can be started with a pull cord, my Honda 90 could, if so makeup a rope for that purpose
6. Fuel pump? Depending on how far you are going or possible service available, squeezing a bulb to keep the engine running for any distance may be challenging
7. A small outboard to keep you going if all else fails

Don’t forget oils, gaskets & o rings for your spares, and tools & manuals to tackle all the possible repairs

Good luck,

Have a great trip

Some great ideas here! Thanks guys. I'll have to talk with a Yamaha tech about the fuses for sure.
