I went to my local Yanmar dealer today to purchase an air fiter for my 2011 R-29. They did not have one in stock (no surprise) and came back with a list price of $330 to special order one! Needless to say, I didn't order one. I suspect these are being cleaned vs. replaced, and if so, can anyone provide details on how they're performing this and its efficacy? (K&N kit?) Also, has anyone purchased one, and if so, what was cost and source? I understand that Ranger doesn't carry them, but I can't believe it's not available somewhere for less (hopefully, considerably so). Thanks.

I think it was around $20 for the kit

Thanks for the quick response Herb. I'll gladly spend the money (and time) on the cleaning kit.

Tri- County Diesel Marine in Bellingham has a cleaning kit for $40. Part # MDDF9000. Phone # 360-733-8880.

Also check out Walker Engineering http://www.walkerairsep.com, (818) 252-7788 (makers of the the famous Walker Airsep). They make the EverQuiet Air Filter for the 6BY-260. Expensive (around $250) but beautifully designed and should last 5 times longer than the Yanmar product with annual cleaning. I've had one installed for two years and it works perfectly.

Yep, for about $20.00 use the K&N kit. I do have a spare filter and rotate them, but one will do you. Just make sure you clean it well and that it is thoroughly dry before you apply the spray oil.
