yanmar control panel fuel pump image alarms intermittly come

R25 2008. On the panel their is a row of images. One is a fuel pump image. This lights up and sounds an alarm on occasion for brief periods. I think it means water in the 2nd filter and that sensor is activating. I checked for water and found none. Also checked the racor filter and no water. Is the sensor bad? If any water in the filter shouldn't the primary racor filter pick it up 1st? I ordered the sensor that goes on the bottom of the 2nd filter just to eliminate a bad sensor. Next is to drain the fuel tank. Engine is a 4jh4 hte 110 hp diesel.

I had a similar problem on my boat, althought with a Volvo Penta setup. I kept getting water in fuel alarms, no visible water in filters so I changed the water sensor, problem continued. Finally, I used a oil change suction pump to extract about a quart of fuel from the bottom rear of the fuel tank. I found a couple ounces of water in the fuel extracted. That was a few years ago and no problem since. My thinking is that the water sensor is very sensitive and with the boat movement an extremely small amount of water is ingested into the fuel which triggers the sensor.

On my RT25SC the rear of the fuel tank is very accessable thru the step and there is an unused plug directly in the center rear of the tank. With the tank having a V shapped bottom I feel that I was able to remove most if not all of the water.

Not sure of you configuration with the longer cabin. Hope this helps.

By the way my RT25SC will be delivered back to me in a week with a new Yanmar 4JH110 installed. So I will join the Yanmar RT group.

Dick: Thanks for the tip. My tank is long under the cabin sole and I cut an access hole to reach the feed hose , return hose
fill hose connections on the front corner of the tank. No center hole accept the sender unit. So I probably will have to hire someone who filters the fuel and returns it to the tank. I just received the new sensor and will see if it works, I hope.
