I recently had to replace my thruster anodes due to wearing away. They were significantly corroded after about 5 months, even though the boat is kept on dry storage.

Imtra, the anode provider, indicates the P/N SM31180A is an aluminum anode.

Anyone know of an actual zinc anode that fits our thrusters?

Thanks,
Gary

I too noticed evaporation of the anodes in dry storage. See my pics in my gallery. Just send Richard at ranger an email and they will send you some after sending in some money 🙂

I noticed after getting to my drystorage that some of the anodes had flaked away and there was some "anode dust" in the tunnels. You can see this in my pics as well.

I am wondering if this is more prevelant in the northern areas as I have not seen this further south. Perhaps has something todo with salty air.

Thanks for the info!

Really surprised to hear that aluminum outlasts zinc in salt water. Guess my search for a zinc replacement ends here!

As for the depletion of the anodes in dry storage, my guess it's partially due to the thruster tunnels not being rinsed with fresh water like the rest of the boat.

Now if only shear pins can be replaced as easy!
