Zincs for R31 in saltwater

I am looking for the size of the zincs on my 2019 R31 which I purchased back in March.

The boat was previously in freshwater in Michigan and now is in saltwater in Texas and I want to make sure I have the proper anodes to change when needed.

From what I know I will need anodes for the transom, shaft and thrusters.

The listed ones RT sells are zinc except the thruster anodes are aluminum from the thruster manufacturer.

Trimtab zincs.. Martyr CMR-3
Transom zinc.. 9x4 1/2" Harbor
Prop nut zinc.. Martyr CMPNZF
Thruster zincs.. Imtra 31180A
Ranger parts carries all these and an order form can be found on TugNuts under Tech Support/Spare parts order form

Chances are the anodes that are installed now are Zinc. The only way they would have changed is if the previous owner changed them to Magnesium. If you are replacing the anodes which you should regardless of the material composition. Zinc anodes used in fresh water will be oxidized and no longer protect unless the all oxidation is removed, Magnesium will be to active in salt water. I personally do not use Zinc anodes in salt water. I feel from experience of using and many articles written that Aluminum Anodes perform as good and in most cases better than Zinc anodes in salt water. The Aluminum anodes are also better for the environment.

The hull anode ZHC-5RS is the zinc anode the same anode in Aluminum is AZHC-5RS. All of the part numbers ,

Prop Zinc (F-1 1/2" MFG-NUT ZINC-F) = ( F-1/1/2" NUT Aluminum )

Trim Tab / Rudder Zinc (MFG-CMR03) is a 3 3/4" anode R3 = R3A in aluminum

The thruster anode is aluminum and I purchase it directly from Imtra 31180A
This is one of many places to purchase the anodes.

The aluminum will work well in brackish and fresh water too.

I use all aluminum on my C30-CB. My boat is moored in Portage Bay (fresh water), but I am in the salt almost every weekend. Echoing Brians comments, I've found that Aluminum is best if you are going back and forth.

I have ordered a full set up zinc anodes and will have the current ones inspected and be ready to replace if needed.

Boatzinc.com had everything I needed.

I agree with aluminum in saltwater.
