A diver that cleaned the bottom of m R 25sc told me that my rudder was showing some pink on the bronze and that that was an indication of galvanic corrosion. He recommended checking that it was bonded to the rest of the boat (which it is), and recommended adding a zinc to the rudder. Have others had this issue, and where and what zinc should I add.
Thanks,
Hansville John

Hey John,

We used to use these on older boats and the R21. They are quite easy to install, you would want to find a suitable zinc, boatzincs.com is a great place to find and order zincs. They even have a menu that breaks down zincs for each component. Also other things to consider, is the marina where your at "hot"? Are others experiencing the same issue? Also may want to look into installing a galvanic isolator to help with this if it is an issue. Hope this helps!!

Thanks,

Our 2017 R25SC came new with a 3 inch anode on the rudder. I change it along with the tabs, prop shaft and thrusters twice a year. After adding a galvanic isolator I could probably go 9 months but this schedule fits well with other maintenance.
