Just got my new 2019 Ranger Tug 23 and I can't figure out how to turn on the speakers in the cockpit. The speakers inside work fine and appear to be Zone 1. But cockpit speakers (Zone 2 I think) won't come on. Anyone have instructions for this? Thanks.

Not sure if this is your problem but give it a try. All zones have ganged volume control, but each zone's volume can also be controlled individually. Pushing in on the volume knob should launch a graphic on the head unit (and/or your MFD) showing a vertical volume bar for each zone. Each time you press the knob it will cycle from one channel bar to the next and then to all zone bars ganged.

Use this to ensure the volume is set loud enough for your zone 2 before you troubleshoot any further. Our boat has four zones (master berth, salon, salon sub, cockpit) and I often forget to balance them, resulting in occasionally blasting my slip neighbors with the cockpit speakers.

Cheers,

Bruce

I have a C28 and it appears zone 1 are he port speakers and zone 2 are starboard. I’d like to be able to control inside and out rather than left and right. It doesn’t look like each speaker is plugged in separately, it looks like a wiring harness. Any ideas?

For the R23- Are you using the stereo face or the chart plotter to control the stereo? The Zones can be turned on and off separately as well as have different volume controls. It is easier to see (and correct) the setup on the chart plotter.

For the C28- If the zones are controlling left and right instead of cabin and cockpit, your speakers are wired incorrectly.

On my 2019 R23, the speakers are controlled by the balance and fader. The fader controls inside/outside, just like front and back in your vehicle’s radio. Balance is the port/starboard control.

Hope that helps.
