Hi all, could use some advice.

I have an R31S 2014, built in late 2013. Some intermittent problems with the depth not showing up on the display (either dashes or a very incorrect depth). Well aware about checking fluid in the cup. On my transducer (Airmar) I loosened a ring cap but it just exposed the top of the transducer which seems to be very tightly epoxied into the hull. No matter how hard I pulled and twisted, there was no “cup” or fluid, just a flat black top. I checked the connections behind the helm and reset the MFD via cutting house power.

1) Are all transducers of this era a liquid media type or is there a chance that I have one that is not.
2) Any other tips on troubleshooting intermittancies in Sonar?

Headed up to fisherman’s bay on Lopez next week and really need the sonar to run the channel. TIA!

Hello,

Not all had the cup in the beginning. I would recommend on getting the correct angle cup, typically about 20 degree angle, and installing that to see if that fixes the issue. When doing so make sure to get a good seal so none leaks out and that the surface is not painted as that will reduce the transducers ability to "see" through the hull. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
