Hello,
On our 2023 R25 I am noticing the chain compartment always has water in the bottom of it. Upon close inspection I noticed the drain is actually an inch or so above the bottom of the compartment. Has anyone else noticed this problem and if so how have you solved for it?

Thanks
steff

I had a anchor drainage problem on my R25 2008. It turned out it was a kinked hose from the anchor drain to outlet. I replaced the hose with the correct length
and solved the problem. You have to remove the tv at the foot of the v berth and remove the panel and it exposes the entire anchor locker drainage inside
the boat. It might solve your problem if it turns out your solution does not work.

Hi Jim,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. From what I can tell on our 25 they simply have a hole directly from the locker out to the bow with a chromed deflector mounted on the bow. The drain hole is not in the bottom of the locker but rather on the front of the locker, approximately 1 inch up from the bottom of the drain valley.

I am thinking the only fix is to build up the base of the locker until it is above the level of the drain. I am hoping others have found a less labor intensive fix.

Thanks again
Steff

I bought several of these and use the stopper to minimize debris clogging all my drains. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000TFDY0E?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
HI Brian,
Thanks for the suggestion. Our chain locker drain is horizontal and not vertical as one would normally expect a drain to be. The outlet is 1/2" inside diameter. The challenge we have is that the fitting is mounted 1" or more above the floor of the locker. I will incorporate your suggestion by adding a removable screen to the 1/2" hole as part of my repairs.

Thanks

Hi Steff

I had a similar problem on a 23 C-Dory some years ago. I found the only real solution was indeed to build up to the drain level. I used West System epoxy with filler. If you go this route do it in layers as it’s a good sized piece of epoxy and generates a lot of heat when it goes off.

Hi Chimo,
Thanks for the guidance. I am in the midst of smoothing out the foam I used to do the buildup and then will start to lay down some fiberglass.

Thanks

I wanted to update this thread with my work around. I used spray foam to build up the bottom of the chain locker. I then used a sander and oscillating tool to shape the foam and get a taper to the horizontal drain. I then used a few layers of fiberglass
to cover the foam and create a seal to the sides of the locker. Lastly I used a little caulk around the anchor line bolt to make sure no water could weep in around the edge of the fiberglass.

I hope this gets resolved in production for the future owners of the R25 with a forward facing locker drain.
