Last engine service, the mechanic could not get the sensor (3808616) out of the old filter. I’ve read this might be caused by certain additives. Regardless of the cause, I’d like to have a spare on board. Now the question; I’ve seen them priced from $14 each to $140 each! Which one do you use? Please provide a link to purchase if possible. Thanks.

Brian. From when we picked up a spare Volvo brand sensor it was $110 a few years ago. Looking on line. It looks like all those cheaper ones are aftermarket. I don’t know if they are any good. I looked at Pacific power website and it say to call for a quote. I think they are located near Des Moines . I’m guessing online might be tough to tell if any of the sensors are an actual Volvo Penta part.

Hi Mike. Nice to hear from you, hope you are both doing well. Yes, I’m pretty sure anything under $100 is aftermarket. Sometimes they work fine, sometimes they don’t. Thought I’d ask if anyone has experience with the aftermarket ones. It does seem like a pretty simple instrument. Must be easy to reproduce based on the many choices available. If it’s critical and complicated I pretty much stick with OEM. But I would use aftermarket for this if someone has one they have used and trust. Figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Thanks for the info.
