Thruster Transmitter

Hello all,

I have lost connection from my thruster remote to the thruster transmitter according to the error code and the manual. Does anyone know where the thruster transmitter is located on a Ranger Tug R29 CB? I have looked behind the mirror in the head but can not see it there.

The thruster remote function has never operated since the new boat delivery (2021 R29CB). I returned the remote control to the manufacture (Side-Power) and they said that when the battery had been installed the connector was bent. They repaired the battery connector (needle-nose pliers fixed bent connector) and returned the remote, at a cost to me. They said to sync the remote with the receiver (a small black box with a small antenna and a very small white button). Challenge: Find the receiver on the boat. I have not found anyone that knows where the receiver is located on the...

Thanks. I have Sleipner (2024 MY R29) and it has worked for 7 months but now suddenly it stopped and gave this error code. I am hoping someone can provide some ideas of where to fine this receiver/ transmitter.

On the R31 the Transmitter was under the Thruster Controls. After removing the thruster controls there was not enough slack in the conductors to access the transmitter through to the top. To gain access I had to cut a hole in the side of the console. If you remove the thruster controls you should be able to see the transmitter and determine if you need to cut a hole.

I own a 2020 R 29 sedan. I had an issue with the remote only working with the bow thruster. The stern thruster did not respond to the remote. I contacted the technician where I bought the boat and was told that the transmitter is located under the helm seat. When looking in the locker under the seat, if you look inboard toward the centerline there is a small inspection panel. Pull the panel--mine was velcroed in. It appears that the transmitter is located in that space. You will need a flashlight to see it and a very long arm to reach it.

Thank you. That would have been a good place for it but it was not there. I also went down in the bed below and looked around the water heater and ac. Not there either. Will try to contact the factory somehow.

Have you finally found the location of the receiver? I'm having the exact same problem on my 2020 R-29 CB!

I changed out the brass screws for antique brass screws for a better look. Had I been smart instead of cutting a square in the vinyl, I would have cut an X pattern and folded the access back into the hole with some 3M adhesive.

I came to realize that this is what I'll have to do because I can't reach from the top. Except I will have to cut below the leather into the fibreglass because of other apparatus.

On my R31 there is a cup holder behind the bow and stern thruster controllers. I pulled out the cup holder and was able to reach in and access the thruster receiver in order to hit the pairing button and do the pairing procedure with the remote.
