Any suggestions for reputable battery dealers in the Puget Sound/Seattle area? I need six 12v AGMs for my 2016 Ranger 31S.
Thanks in advance. Brian

I got mine from Fisheries Supply. They’re pretty competitive on most things plus I got the RBAW discount

Thanks for the feedback, Gary. What is the RBAW discount? Does it involve a secret handshake?

if you are a Recreational boaters association of Washington you get a 10% discount.

Some unrequested thoughts that you can simply delete.

I don’t know the set up on the 31S. Are all 6 house batteries or do you have a dedicated starting battery and a dedicated thruster/windlass battery? If you have a dedicated starter then give some thought to making that a real starter like an Optima. Don’t go cheap on the batteries. Maybe something like Lifeline? Think how much your boat is worth and what are the things you relay on most after your engine. It’s not the head!

While you have everything out, think about a switched link to tie your thruster to your house bank and increase your capacity when on the hook. You’re not using the thruster then. If you think there will be a heavy windlass load at some point you can switch it to be separated when you anchor. It gives you choices.

If you are getting replacement universals. Home Depot and Amazon have free shipping….

I second the recommendation of lifeline house batteries. I did the higher capacity ones 31-xt. Slightly more weight and cost but changed my house batteries from 400 amp hours to 500 amp hours. I am comfortable on the hook now with no issues. Also a smart shunt so you can monitor your consumption.

I also did optima starter and thruster batterys since they require high current discharge quickly and are built to a different standard

This setup is not cheap. But if you want to go out on the hook and feel comfortable that you can do the things that you want. This is the setup.

I also installed the smart shunt and use the iPhone app.

Replaced all batteries on my boat this past May with Odyssey Extreme AGM, bought at West Marine, three house, one engine start, one thruster, very happy with them, less than a year, but performing well
