We are mooring our boat, (R43) 2+ hours north of us and are wanting to install a security camera system. Something we can monitor from anywhere. No internet so would have to be something that we could use cellular on. I am looking for any recommendations.

Thank you in advance
Dave

Hi Dave,

Do you mean that the camera can be hooked up to the internet with a cellular connection?

My marina doesn't offer Wi-Fi so we have T-Mobile 5G home internet on our boat. We then use a Wyze Cam Pan v3 as a security camera. What I like is you can remotely move the camera (PTZ functionality), so I can look around my boat remotely. It has live view and for $3 a month it'll record events. Not as good as the Nest 24/7 recording we use at home, but good enough.

I'm sure there are other, probably better options, but this was a cheap one we came up with.

We use ring cameras as we already have them in other locations. The cameras connect to an on boat WiFi router that gets internet through our marina WiFi, and fails over to cellular if needed.

Same here. 3 Rings aboard, excellent lag time & image quality on either KVH cellular or RogueWave WiFi.
Have a camera on my BRNKL too - doesn't compare in sophistication/utility.
Also added 3 Nest Protects for real surprises.

i use blink cameras tied to a T-Mobile hot spot, they work really well

I already had a Google Nest subscription for my home security cameras and doorbell. That subscription allows 10 cameras so I added 2 outdoor Nest battery cams to my Cutwater 30CB and I am very happy with the performance. I went away for over 3 weeks and put them in battery saver mode as I didn't know what kind of battery life to expect in "balanced" mode. The battery level barely dropped in 3 weeks and I was receiving daily notifications about activity (people walking by etc.). Image quality is excellent. They do not have a cellular option built in, so if needed, you would require a cellular to wifi service.

This is great! I have a bunch of Nest cams, love the service, but wasn’t sure if I had to get a new subscription to use it outside of my home. Thanks for sharing!

After researching this, I was under the impression that I could add up to 10 devices to my subscription and never found anything indicating otherwise. Interestingly, I received notification this morning from Google that my free 30 days for my additional "home" is over and they want a second, full subscription from me. I'm looking into returning the cameras and will likely move to Wyze or another service if Google doesn't do anything for me.
