We have a 2011 Ranger Tug 29 and want to remove the wine cooler. The front trim has been removed but something is still holding it in. I’ve seen the other threads but those are under the helm. Ours is under the passenger seat. Anyone know how to remove it?

You have to go into the cave and remove the 4 screws holding in the removeable panel. That should expose the retaining bracket. Hope this helps. Jerry Geisenheimer

I am interested in what you will do with the space? I am planning to remove mine and was thinking to convert it to more of a general storage space. Maybe for wine but maybe not.

Wine cooler makes a great vegetable fridge. I don't understand why people remove it. It also keeps can goods cool in the boat when it hits 100 degrees.

We removed ours in our 2917 C-28.
The wine cooler was not very effective in keeping things cool. In our boat I believe this was in part due to it being in a poorly ventilated enclosure.
It’s a power hog. For those of us counting watts, it’s a problem. (Average power: (W/h) 48 Watts)
When removed, the available storage space created is quite large. We now store all dry goods in that space. The Admiral highly approved of the conversion.
We kept the wine cooler and could reinstall it if a new owner preferred to have it.
I’m happy with the look of the new doors I fabricated for the space.

We remove them because they are power hogs.

We’re not wine drinkers and wanted more space for general storage. Its a pretty big space.

It is a perfect dry space to store tool bags, making them readily accessible when needed.

I wonder if there are more wine coolers still installed on boats or gathering dust in garages and boathouses (like mine).

There's hardly a day on the boat that I don't smile at my well stocked Wine Cooler...it certainly helps with the others aspects that give me great grief, notably the Gen.1, soon to be mostly Gen. 2 Lewmar Thrusters and the awful generator that's placed in an area that makes it extremely difficult to service and subject to water damage...bless the Wine and Merry Christmas!

Mine's in the attic
