Hello,
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has done this.
I am not sure how to access the coolant hoses that come from the engine.
The hot outlet and cold inlet clear plastic hoses are obvious in the lazaret
It looks to me as if the unit is installed with the back side facing the boat's bow .
and the coolant hoses from the engine are attached to the back under the triangular
storage area cut-out, under the head sink.

Thanks!

I just replaced my water heater on my 2008 R25 Classic. Yes, the coolant lines come in from the back of the heater. I thought there wouldn’t be enough access through the hole in the floor under the head sink, but there was. You can get your hands in there and loosen the hose clamps. On one of them, my wife had to reach through from the front of the heater to hold the clamp from moving. The next problem is getting the hose off the hose nipple on the heater. You just have to work it and twist it until it comes off - I used a hair dryer to loosen it. If the design of the lazarette is the same as mine, you have to disassemble the housing of the heater before you can get it out. Remove all screws around the perimeter of the three sides of the housing and slide the housing off the tank. Take the housing out and then take the tank out. You must do it in reverse with the new tank. Good Luck!

I’ve posted before about removing my domestic water heater in my 08 R25. I however unlike the previous post didn’t have to remove the housing on the hater. It does fit through hatch at least on my boat. With some finagling it came out just fine… Hose removal as noted is not super easy through the service hole but doable. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I measured today and the housing is exactly 13" wide, and the lazaret hatch is 14" wide (or a bit more), so I'm thinking it will slide out.
The next thing is to get to the screws on the bracket holding the front ( really the rear of the unit) hiding down there below the triangular access). Looks like the shower sump will have to move, but I'm not sure. I'm at the stage of trying to decide if this is something I want to tackle--. Not as limber as I used to be. I appreciate the comments!

It’s a lip the heater slides under. No screws in that area holding in place. At least on mine.

Hmmm.. I didn't think of that ! So apparently it's just the two screws in the bracket that's visible in the lazaret holding the unit in place.?.. I don't know why they would change it if it works on the '08. Thanks again.
