What is a practical and reliable way to add a fresh water flush valve to a 2017 R29? If I shut off the stock ball valve intake and connect a garden hose to a fresh water flush valve, it could pressurize engine and cause engine damage. If I leave the stock ball valve intake open while garden hose is connected, will that prevent engine damage. ..... This way the garden hose cleans seaweed and mud out of stock intake. .... if the garden hose sucks water out of a bucket, I don't think it will clean intake, yet it won't pressurize engine.

I have a fresh water flush connection on my boat, hose pressure is NOT enough to cause the impeller to spin and let water through (which would then fill up your lifter muffler and cause engine damage the next time it's started)

I still keep the seacock open, hose pressure is enough to backflush the strainer and keep any salt water from entering.

I have full detailed description of all the steps here - https://www.tugnuts.com/threads/fresh-water-flushing-made-easy.20427/

My last boat had twin Cummins diesels and I looked into doing the fresh water flush on them. They had after coolers that were a pain to clean (I know because I did it every two years). There is a shop in southern California that was the 3rd party premier specialist on those Cummins. He did a really good write up on what the process entails. Maybe it will have some things to consider.
