1. The VP D1 Operator's Manual says to replace the exhaust hose at 600hrs/48mos. What are the signs of deterioration? Is anyone doing this in such a relatively short (IMO) timeframe?

2. The Manual also says to Inspect the air filter at 200hrs/12mos (and Replace at 400/24). How does one inspect the filter element which is enclosed in a sealed housing?

Thanks for any input!

Not promoting to follow what I've done but on my 2014 with over 3400hrs I inspected the exhaust hose at roughly every 1000hrs when I've preformed a full service on the heat exchanger and exhaust riser. I look for any signs of blistering or other issues internally on the hose and perform regular visual checks on the outside. No signs of a problem so far. With respect to the air filter/silencer, you can only remove it and look into the inlet and outlet because as you noted it's a sealed unit. You see a little more if you had an inspection camera/boroscope. I replaced my filter at around 2000hrs. It was dirty but not extreme. I just bought a cheapy boroscope so will inspect soon and probably replace in another couple hundred hours. Crazy design for a filter. Must be a money maker.

Cracks in the outer wall of the hose, if it was pliable before but now is rock hard, heavy diesel odors.

Any sign of liquid diesel in the hose if you wrap a towel around it and wipe it off.

That's my input
