RC-21 EC helm seat replacement

Has anyone replaced the helm seat on their 21 EC with a Vetus First Mate seat. It looks about right from the images on their web site, but I have no way of checking one in person to see how well it would fit

I would make my best guess and then buy on Amazon. I use their liberal return policy when I get it wrong.

I replaced mine with a similar seat. I appreciate the extra room. I will try to post some pictures

I ended up replacing mine with a low cost replacement, but reshaped the plywood base from the original to fit it.

Pardon the dumb question but is there a trick to getting the seat down? This is our first R-21 and it seems the seat is firmly in place and does not want to move up or down. The post and that supports the seat is as pictured. My guess is that the seat base should move up and the post, once released, swings down and clips into a holding device on the wall. So, how does the post release from the seat base - I don't want to force it. Thanks.

It should work as you described. Lift the seat and the post drops. If the previous owner didn’t bolt or pin the pipe to the top then maybe let it go at the bottom and see if you can twist it to free it up.

I removed the lower post pin which allowed me to pull the post down out of the seat base. It appeared that the post and post base in the seat bottom were misaligned. Once I realigned same it worked. Thanks for the suggestion.
