Does anyone know if you can replace the propane sensor without removing the oven ? Like reaching up from under, etc ? I'm getting a propane alarm, when I don't have the propane connected to the oven. My other FS1 sensor, in the bilge, isn't ringing, so it's not a fuel leak. I don't know if there is a way to make sure it is the sensor, not the instrument head, but I've got a note into Xintex on that.

The oven has to come out. It's the sensor. They're only good for about 3 years. I've replaced several on R27's (my own, included). They're easy. The sensor is on our Amazon affiliate site for the exact part number.

I guess they have changed the design since? On my 2025 R29 the sensor is easily accessible in the small cabinet under the stove.Propane Sensor R29 CB.jpgPropane Sensor R29 CB.jpg

Mine went off while I was using a flameless ration heater (FRH) to heat up a MRE for dinner on the back deck. So at least I know it was working! 🙂

Every 3 years?! Bit of a pain in the ass if the oven has to come out. Is there a way to test longevity? Hopefully it doesn't just fail into an alarm mode. Neighbors would love that.

(I know someone who's dog that wasn't feeling well accidentally set off the alarm. 🙂 )

The stove comes out with 4 screws. It's easy work. The manufacturers installation guide says to expect the sensors to last 3 years in a marine environment, 5 years in an RV. Many folks have ran into this issue.

You'll know it's failed when it alerts when no propane is present and your AGM batteries aren't off-gassing (open your port lazaratee and leave open so batteries can vent to rule this out).

You can also test the sensor with any conventional lighter (like a cigarette lighter) that lets you dispel gas without having to ignite it. The butane/propane mix in the lighter held next to the sensor is an easy way to test them.

The original poster has an R27-OB.
