Curious if anyone else wished they could experience the ICW and the trawler lifestyle before spending $250K+ on their first boat?

I'm exploring an idea and would appreciate feedback from current and potential trawler owners. I’m thinking an R27 meets my needs.

My thought is a captain guided experience along the NC ICW where a couple could spend the day (overnight options as well) aboard a Ranger Tug Trawler: learning about navigation, traveling the ICW, docking, marina life/towns and the day-to-day lifestyle. My goal is to give folks a realistic taste of the 'looper' life before they buy.

I would love feedback and opinions. Thanks!

There is totally stuff like this. Having recently moved up from a 19' C-Dory to a Cutwater that's similar to the R27, it's a real sweet spot for enjoying that lifestyle. I grew up on the Pamlico, these are good boats.

thanks for the feedback. Could I impose on a little more of your time? What do you think of my website- www.TryMyTrawler.com. Thanks bmcminn.

Yes. I have a website set up and a charter insurance policy in place: www.TryMyTrawler.com. It's a captained experience around the Morehead City/Beaufort NC area. For boating we have Adam's and Taylor Creeks, Bogue Sound, Beaufort inlet, Morehead City turning basin- there's so much in this area for beginner/wanna be trawlers to get some hands on one on one time. thanks for any feedback, I appreciate your time OverTime.

I checked out the website. It looks good. I wish this had been around when we were looking for first Tug. We were looking for something just like this before buying a Tug.
FYI there is similar charter company in South Carolina that charters a Ranger Tug between Savannah and Charleston.

Good luck and would love to hear more once you get started.

Hey Dick and Terri- Excellent intel- I found Salt Marsh Sailing. Is that who you were referring to? I hope so- Lord knows where i'd end up if I was sailing. They can have that market and I wish them luck. We are 97% go. A few logistics to wrap up this week and we hope to go live very soon. Thank you for the feedback. Happy motoring with engine and steering wheel! And i mean that w/ great respect for sailors. See you out there!
