Trailer for R 27

Can you use a heavy duty 12k tandem axle for the Tug 27? Or is the 3 axle one the only one that should be considered? I'm worried about tight turns with 3 axles. I'm aware of the factory weight and how much gas, water and misc items weigh.

Assuming that all weight considerations are accounted for, that the two axles can handle the weight of the boat, fuel, stuff and the trailer itself. My feeling would be to go with the 2 axle if you plan on just trailering around town. But if you are planning any longer huals then I would definitely recommend the 3 axle. The scrubbing of the tires in tight turns is an issue, but I would be nervous having that much weight on only 2 axles. Also if there is a blow out then you're down to only one tire on that side and that is definitely a bad situation.

I agree with Venajeff and add the the 2025 R27 trailer has a GVWR of 15,240 lbs. The trailer is listed as weighing 1,820 lbs, leaving a capacity of 13,420. Trailer tires are notorious for failing early when heavily loaded.

My boat weighed 11,000lbs with 3/4 fuel and 1/2 water and basic gear that lives on the boat. I would assume 12k or just over loaded for a trip. Some 2 axle trailers are rated for that but I would want a 15k not a 12k. I think more about triple axle for redundancy. A blowout leaves two axles/tires to support the load while you realize you had a blowout. A tandem axle leaves only one which will DEFINITELY overload the single axle/tire remaining. Tire scrubbing is real, but tires arent THAT expensive and are still likely age out before wearing out with the amount most people trailer.
