2007 R-21 EC stuffing box packing material

I posted this question in the Factory category too.

What size stuffing box packing should I use? The prop shaft is 1" in diameter. Also, is there a preference as to which type of packing is used?

I can’t remember the size ( 1/4 or 3/8 ) but I use Palmetto packing series synthetic w/ PTFE and lube compression with Teflon.
Been using for years in all my pumps and on my boat. It lasts so long that is why I can’t remember what size I used for the boat.

Thanks to both of you. Newf, do you know the size of your stuffing box nut? Mine is 1 7/8".

Mine was slightly bigger than 1-7/8”. Not quite 1-15/16 but had to grind .035-.045” off of my 1-7/8” to make it work.

This is what I use, I think it’s called a slip & lock nut wrench sold at most hardware stores
