2008 R25 4jh4 hte 110 yanmar stop button not working

Pushed the stop button on the panel and nothing happened. Had to go to the starboard side and manually shut down the engine. Checked the connection behind the panel and started up the engine and tried the stop button again and this time it worked. Either the solenoid is bad or the control panel might have some corrosion on the terminals.
Any ideas?

I don't have any insight for you, but I do have a question. I have tried my manual shutdown and cannot get it to physically move. Is there any secret to it that you know of? Is it the same mechanism that the button operates?

Ranger. I am not sure but I think it is the same mechanism. I found the solenoid but It was hard to see where it is connected to the fuel shutoff on the injector pump. I'm gonna take a picture and really get close up to see what activates the shutoff from the solenoid. I might even have a 2nd person push the stop button while I watch closely at the engine to see what actually happens. I'll let you know.
