What changes will be made in the 2010 Ranger 21EC? Any significant engine changes or modifications?

Thank you for your interest in our Ranger R21EC. We are not planning on many changes to the R21EC for the 2010 model year. The new R21 EC has evolved in the last few years to what it is today and we are happy with the small changes that we have made. We have been able to hold the pricing for the last 1 1/2 to 2 years, unfortunately the price is going to have to change as we enter into the new model year.

Thanks again,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

Are the any changes in the engine for the 21EC? The question is weather to buy a 2009, or if there will be any advantages in waiting for the 2010?

Thanks

I'd venture there won't be any changes to that engine, or a change to another engine. It's a super engine, pushes my tug to 9.5 knots and so far has averaged 0.6 gph running according to the Yanmar manual for break-in, around 3200 rpm most of the time.

Is there a difference between the displacement weight and the actual weight of the 21ec?

For what it's worth (and I have a whopping 13 hours on my engine), I was running at 2500 rpm's yesterday and doing anywhere from 7.5 to 8.3 knots of GPS speed. I still have about 2/3 of a tank.

I'm breaking it in slow and easy, per the manual's instructions. But I think I'll be agreeing with rt: it's a super engine. Take care of it, and it will take care of you!

Displacement weight is usually a calculation based on where they think the boat will sit in the water, on it's marked waterline. That is the weight of water of what is "displaced" by the boat. It's usually pretty close but the best way to figure out actual weight is to weigh your trailer empty and then weigh it with the tug on it. With all the things you usually carry of course. Fuel, water, gear, etc.
