Air conditioning unit on 2011 RT25 ceased operating. It is a Dometic 16k btu split system. Interested in what others have done to replace their ac units: location on boat, split or single unit, ducting. What and where is the factory installing air conditioning unit on new RT25? Thank you.

Your 2011 R25 and a current production 2025 R25 are completely different vessels in almost every respect, from hull construction and cabin configuration to electrical system so what is installed in current production boats would have little application your boat. Have you determined what caused the air conditioning to cease operating on your boat? Making repairs to what is currently installed may be easier than replacing the whole system.

Thank you for the reply. Unable to find root cause. Verified 110 volt power to PCB, but nothing beyond that, unit dead, nothing on the display. Given the age, condition and cost for ac tech to find cause and fix, might be wise to spend money on new unit. I have removed and installed ac units on a few boats so am able to do the work. Looking for ideas on what make, model of ac units being used at factory now, and what others have done with their replacements.

If you do not wish to replace it with a like split system, you might consider looking at what was installed on later model R27 Classic (and maybe R25SC) boats. It is a combined unit.

It still may be worth having a competent A/C tech troubleshoot your existing unit.

Good luck.

I edited this Sunday morning at 5:20am to clarify that the later model R27 CLASSIC boats (diesel inboards) have a combined air conditioning system. I am unsure what year those installations started, probably around 2014-15. The R25SC boats may have had the combined system installed in the same model years since they share so many common parts, but I do not know for certain.

I know zero about what air conditioning system is installed on the R25 and R27 Outboard models.
