😀 Rendezvous Silent Auction!

One of the many great activities planned for the Rendezvous is the silent auction.

The auction will be held on Saturday evening. Proceeds from this event will go to support “Sound Experience” and the 2013 Ranger Tug/Cutwater Rendezvous.

Sound Experience is a Puget Sound-based marine environmental and youth leadership organization that uniquely delivers its programs aboard the 133' historic wooden schooner Adventuress. More info on Sound Experience can be found at:

We would like each boat to bring an auction item. Last year 60 items were donated and the auction was a huge success.

Think Boating! Be creative and come up with some fun items to auction off. Stop by your favorite marina, kitchen store, marine store, etc. and find something that people could use while enjoying time on their Ranger and Cutwater boats. You may also find those places very willing to make a donation if you let them know about the Rendezvous and it’s support for Sound Experience.

As you choose your auction items for the Rendezvous, please send us a PM that includes the item description and value. This will give us plenty of time to prepare the auction forms.

I thought I'd share a youth experience I had growing up in West Seattle, Beach Drive. I am very familiar with the Adventuress which was owned by a neighbor of ours and was ofter anchored in front of our home. His name was Detrick Schmitz. Scmitz park in West Seattle was donated to the City by Detrick. At the time he was President of Seattle First National Bank he lived on Beach Drive about two blocks from my parents home. My brothers delivered his Seattle PI news paper for many years, that is primarilly how we got to know the family. He bought a new Cadillac every year and his license number was always AAA001. When Nita and I go out in the boat, we often see the Adventuress near Friday Harbor. Just thought I'd share a life experience.

The auction items are coming in ! Thanks to those who have already contacted us....we're looking forward to many more.

We were in the San Juans two weeks ago and spotted the Adventuress on the water several times. She certainly stands out at a distance. Coincidentally she was docked in Friday Harbor and disembarking passengers at the same time we were walking up the dock for lunch. We had a chance to talk to some of the passengers and they had nothing but good things to say about the organization, the program and their experiences. Wow....I just checked and we show 64 registered boats/groups. Excellent participation !

Speaking of participation, we're getting some excellent donations for the silent auction. But I know there are more to come. Don't delay, donate today! (via PM of course)

The auction supports two worthy causes....Sound Experience, and our Ranger/Cutwater Rendezvous for 2013.

We'll have a credit card reader this year, so you can charge your winning auction items if you like.

It would be really helpful if you could let us know about your donations(s) with the retail cost by August 31st.
