Hi All, long time lurker, first time buyer. Just purchased a used 2013 Cutwater 28 and expect to actually get it in my driveway in a couple of weeks. It appears none of the owners manuals will be provided but I downloaded the version available here on Tugnuts. My question is I did not see the wiring for the AC side of the electrical system in the manual. Specifically, I am trying to understand the battery charger circuit. How are the Batteries charged when connected to shore power? The circuit breaker labeled Battery Charger is tripped and the green LED light is not illuminated. I was hoping to see the circuit so I would have an understanding of that system.

Any help or direction is always appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Glenn Cooper

I posted this request almost 3 years ago...Love the boat, have sorted out most of the issues. Was wondering if anyone could contribute to the battery charger wiring?

Thanks in advance,
Glenn

If the wiring diagram for your 2013 C28 is anything like the one for my 2012 R27, all I can say is good luck. The wiring diagram for my boat has errors and omissions and lots of dead ends such as “see XXX wiring diagram” and the the wiring diagram for XXX is not supplied.

The battery charger wiring is basic. The 120 AC panel main 30 amp breaker ON. Power to battery charge breaker. Battery charger breaker ON, 120 Volt AC to Battery charger ProMariner 1220. The ProMariner 1220 charger has three outputs 10 ga red wire is attached to each output terminal (Promariner charger) the opposite end of each red wire is attached to the positive battery terminal stud of the House battery bank, Thruster battery , and engine battery. There is an inline fuse about 6 inches from the battery terminal stud. The negative yellow wire is connected to the ground lug at the battery charger and is then attached to the ground terminal strip . there is a daisy chain of yellow ground cables that lead to each round stud terminal of each battery bank. The battery charger has settings and can be programed for the different types of batteries.

This will have all this information in it.

Thanks Brian, that sums it up pretty well. It looks like I have a house battery issue, and will probably need to replace both house batteries. Looks like when the previous owner replaced all 4 batteries in 2017, everything was reconnected correctly, so my guess is they are in need to be replaced again.

Cheers,
Glenn
