Dear factory,

Can you please let me know where the Garmin CCU is located on the boat ?
This Easter egg hunt for the little black egg is (too) hard

All original from the factory Garmin gear (2013 era, 5215 CPlotter), the Auto Pilot is a GHC-20.

It’s not attached to the bulkhead beyond the kitchen drawers, near the fridge. It is not behind the little cloth panel at the end of the cave near the A/C unit. It is not in the lazarettes.

Thank you…!

Hello,

It is located by the galley fridge. Will have to pull the fridge out and it will be located more behind the cabinets. It will be easier to see if the fridge is removed.

Thank you,

Will do… thank you Jared for your timely reply. I am liking this brand of boat.

Actually, before you remove the refrigerator, remove your galley drawers. Pull the two bottom ones and look behind them. This doesn't apply to all 31 models but, on a 2013 I believe it was in a different location where I am directing you to.

Andrew,
Yes, I have done that… yesterday my new borescope arrived (a cheap cell phone based one), but worked well enough that the Jimmy Hoffa ball remains elusive… next up, the fridge de-install. Thanks for your time on this.

So, this is an embarrassing admission...
After countless hours seeking "Jimmy Hoffa" (the round black CCU ball), the nice Garmin customer service guy pointed out that i have the electronic one - the "Garmin Reactor 40". It is located behind the helm in the electronics area just floating... it is NOT mounted. I do not have much space in the cabinet to work with as the cables are short and the wooden real estate is in short supply... but my plan is mount it with rubber washers between the CCU and the wood to absorb shocks, etc.

Stating the following information for the Tugnuts Knowledge Base (i.e. other newbies like me who are learning every day):
I had 2 Garmin issues: The 5215 Chartplotter works well, but is an 11 year old piece of hardware that is unsupported. The compass direction matches that of the Navionics program... the Garmin Auto-Pilot direction reads around 15-30 degrees off from the Chartplotter and Navionics... In addition, the Chartplotter cartoon boat was always sailing sideways. So, I took the boat out this AM while the River was calm and tapped on "Dealer Mode", and direction wizard. Successfully completed the operation. The cartoon boat is now straight, and the compass deviation between the A/P and the Chartplotter was cut in half. Not perfect but better.

The Garmin RF remote stopped working however. I tried pairing with the A/P with no joy. Called Garmin, That is when I discovered I do not have the older CCU black ball. And, my old Garmin remote was a mystery to the Garmin people... they were all stumped how it ever worked with the newer system. So, I have a new Remote on order. The remote is important to me as I cannot use the A/P on the flybridge without it.
I'll update if I have trouble pairing the new, updated remote once is arrives.
