Does anyone know if the storage under the flip seat on my 2014 C28 at the transom was meant to be a fish box?
Thanks

Hi Luci,

No, it was not originally intended for that. But I suppose one could convert it, given the right materials, hoses, etc.

Cheers,

Ralf

Hi,

I have used mine for that purpose. This striper here was 36 inches and fit in just fine. I it caught in May of this year. Although not insulated the seat box takes ice and drains into the bilge. Kept the fish nice and cool for what is a long ride home for me, about 4 hours.

Nice thing about these Cutwaters is their versatility.

If you make the seat storage area a fish box or cooler make sure to attach drain hoses to the bottom of the box. There are drains on the bottom of the storage box that if hoses are not routed to the limber tubes and limber tubes are not completely clean and flowing the water will collect on each side of the prop tunnel. The water that drains from the seat will also drip on the steering cylinder , trim pump and the thruster. It is important for the reliability of theses components to keep this area dry. With proper draining of the box it would make a great fish box. I would had some screens to the drains too !

I would be VERY concerned about fish waste going into the bilge and stinking up the entire boat. I would plug the drain hole and get a manual pump to empty it or use a large cooler on deck.

Thanks Guys,

Your thoughts are much appreciated.
After thinking about all the pros and cons, it will remain a tackle box.

Thanks again
J.L.
