I have looked at previous A/C threads and it seems that the 12v air conditioning is not designed to be used while underway.
Is that still the case and is it due to a charging rate issue or something else? It gets kind of hot and steamy on the Chesapeake Bay at 6 knots and I was thinking an enclosed pilot house with a/c might be kind of nice.
 
I have a R21 with AC and it works great underway. Love the boat and in the closed cabin the AC is must have . My wife and I also cruise the Chesapeake, out of Bodkin Creek.
