Many past posts by others on chafed hoses. Found one today that I hadn't noticed before. The heat exchanger supply hose was chafed almost through from the vibration of the coolant tank. The hose is clamped solid but the coolant tank is mounted on rubber grommets which allows it to vibrate separately from the engine. As the photo in the album shows, it wore through the outer rubber layer and almost through the fabric layer in the middle of the hose. Wouldn't have taken much longer and sea water would have been spraying in the engine compartment. For those with the volvo penta in their R21's, it's worth having a look to ensure you have adequate clearance on yours. Only found this because of the dusting of rubber powder on the edge of the coolant tank.
