We bought a 2014 25SC 2 years ago. There are some stains in the walls of the vee birth and on the ceiling just inside the entry door. They did not bother us when we bought the boat, but now we would like to find out what they are and remove or cover them.

Attached are some pictures.

The stains in the walls of the vee birth are light brown or tan. They are on the back side of the white material covering the inside of the hull. They resemble large vertical runs down of a heavy, thick, viscous material, possibly glue. They are not black or green like I would expect mold to be. Scrubbing with cleaners does not remove them. There is no indication on the boat exterior.

Are these stains from the manufacturing process?
What is the source of the stains?
Can the white interior material be coated or covered from the inside?
Can you suggest a heavy duty cleaner to try?

The stains on the ceiling just inside the entry door are black. Scrubbing with cleaners does not remove them. They are black, but the white material does not look like it has been damaged by heat. There is no indication on the boat exterior.

What can you suggest as the source of the stains?
Can you suggest a cleaner or cleaning process?

Thank you,

That looks like a leak has happened and wasn’t addressed right away or properly. It must have gotten onto some stainless that caused some rust stains. Best thing to do is a leak test by spraying water in that area and see if you can find a leak. A bleach cleaner (Clorox spray) and scrub the carpet with a brush could work, but the best thing would to replace the carpet as it can’t be covered.
