Ranger Tug

Model 25SC

Model year 2014

In 2022 we bought a used 2014, Ranger Tug, 25SC. It came to us with a Tuff Trailer that the previous owners had bought new in 2021 from Black Point Marine in Hillsboro, Oregon. The boat did not come to them with a trailer when they bought it in 2021. When the boat is on the trailer, the keel of the boat is in contact with the trailer crossmember behind the axles. The only other contact is with the bunks. There is a piece of yellow plastic attached to the top of the crossmember. The metal strip that is attached to the bottom of the keel has torn the plastic.

If the boat and trailer had been new together from the Ranger factory, would they have been set up for the keel to contact the trailer?

If not, what should the clearance be?

Should the bunks on the trailer be adjusted to lift the boat up 1/4", or some other amount?

Is that strip of metal on the bottom of the keel stainless steel? There is no anode on it.

Thank you,

The bar on the keel is stainless steel. It sounds like the trailer hasn’t been setup properly. You should see if the bunks can be raised, as our boats (29/31) don’t rest on the trailers cross beams. We don’t have an exact clearance, but you should have a couple of inches between the keel and the trailer. The more clearance you can get the better.
