Working through some hopefully minor issues on a new boat to me:
At the aft of the starboard lazarette is a small separate and slightly raised compartment that houses the sonar transducer. On my boat there is standing water in this compartment, evidently it has been there a long time, and there is a drain on the forward wall at the base of the compartment. So that drain isn't draining.
I carefully used small a plumbing snake to probe the drain line hoping to clear a clog, but was able to easily feed 25' of line into the hole with no luck. Obviously the cable started coiling up somewhere (25 feet on a 25 foot boat), and it sounded like it was under the lazarette.
My question is, where does this compartment drain to? It seems like it should either connect to one of the main scupper lines, or drain into the bilge. My concern is, if there is a line connected to the drain hole that has come loose, water could be draining between the hull and the liner. Although that seems unlikely, since water is backing up. I'm going to try and boroscope it, but I'll still need to understand where it is supposed to go.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
John
