2015 R27 D3 200 Volvo starter replacement.

I need to replace the starter motor on my Volvo D3 200. Due to the tight fit One mechanic says to dismantle the cooling system components on the port side of the engine. Another wants to pull out the engine for access. Is this necessary to replace what should be a serviceable part?

I have looked at the shop manual for this operation.

The procedure is to remove the heat exchanger and its bracket.

Then the starter can be removed.
