Does anyone have experience with this vessel operating in Florida?

I am looking into acquiring a new one...and potentially doing the "great loop". Does it operate relatively well in "blue coastal waters" on fair days? I do plan on acquiring reverse cycle AC...should I acquire the diesel heater too? Is it more beneficial to get the propane stove over the electric? Should I get the solar panel? Is the weather antenna worth it? It seems to be a great boat for two costal cruising.

Tim,

I can only respond to part of your inquiry, as we have a R31CB with the propane addition. My wife and I love the Command Bridge, as we spend most of the day up there and during the drive as well. Roscoe loves it too. You would think that having the beautiful weather you get in sunny Florida, this would be a very used feature. It makes docking a little easier, as you can get a better view around the boat. In regards to the propane, we love it and utilize it all the time, inside and out. No need to run the generator to make a meal on the stove top or outside grill. The larger tanks make it convenient to operate and not have to worry about storing them.

Good luck with your purchase!!!!!!

Thank you for the prompt feedback! The boat I am looking at, the R29 CB, has two normal "grill" propane tanks (which I hope I can fill at dock at most marinas). Do you have a grill tied into those tanks too? That must be great...don't think I can do that on the R29 CB.

Get the propane option. There's a reason for the old saying "Now you're cooking with gas!".
You can run a hose from the large tanks to a Magma type grill mounted on the aft rail, and use small screw on tanks if you take the grill ashore. Also, the solar panel means less generator use. Definitely worth it.

Looks like all of questions have been addressed except your question on getting the diesel heater in addition to the reverse air/heater. We have an R27 with the reverse air/heater unit and it works just fine. With that said if you plan on anchoring out a lot during the shoulder months the diesel heater would be a nice feature, as it does not require you to run the genset or if you're at dock the diesel heater would be a lot quieter then the reverse air/heat unit. However if you don't plan on boating in colder weather then save the money and buy a small portable electric heater for those view times you find yourself in colder weather or you don't want to listen to the reverse air/heat pump, in my opinion.

We have the 2016 RT29CB. We haven't really "used" the CB because the weather, well, it's the PNW. But when we have used it for a short window, we love the view from up above! Cruising the PNW, we love the diseal heater option. It really has opened up our cruising for the winter months. I love the propane because of I have a gas stove at home, and we tent, so I'm used to having the propane. We haven't purchased our grill yet, but hope to get one so we can also use the extended hose the propane tanks. Good luck in your decision!
