We’ve ordered a new ‘18 R-27 and the factory spec sheet says bridge clearance with the mast down is 8’ 1”. Our dealer “field measured” an in-water boat and said it was closer to 8’ 4”. This is critical for us as we have a low bridge we need to clear. I’m wondering when the factory calculated this was the boat dry (no fuel, water, waste, etc)? Our daily boating is on a lake so I’m assuming we could remove the radar dome if necessary as I don’t need radar on my lake. We could then re-install as needed for our coastal cruising. The removal of the dome looks like it may lower the clearance by almost 4-5”? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How tight are you? If you are talking inches I would be concerned. What about some wake action and your boat bouncing up and down while going under the bridge.

It’s tight - 8’ 6” but it’s our only option if we want to own an RT. Without the radar dome we are fine but I just wanted to know how the factory does their measurements. I guess we can just keep fuel and water full and that’ll drop us another inch or two. Been boating here for over 15 Years. Bridge is in a very reliable no wake zone so I’m not worried about being bounced up into bridge. Thanks.

Hello,

I asked our guys to measure while the boats were in the water in Fort Lauderdale but haven't heard back. We can measure the next time we have one in the water and let you know for sure.

Thank you,
