It was announced at the August Lake Michigan Rendezvous that there would be a Rendezvous on Ontario's Trent Severn in the summer of 2018. I've been working with Ryan Stovold of Lefroy Harbour, Ontario's Ranger Tug dealer and Fluid Motion (Ranger Tugs and Cutwater Boats) with the planning of next summers event. I know its a long way off however for those that are snow blowing driveways and shoveling snow it can not come soon enough. So to wet your boating appetite we have tentative dates set of August 17-19th in Orillia, Ontario. There will be more details to follow once Ryan secures the dockage dates in Orillia. Ryan has offered to host an event at there marina, there will be cruising available for groups or solo both before and after the Rendezvous thru the scenic Trent Severn Waterway. More to follow but in the mean time if you have an interest in possibly attending post here and or email me directly so I can keep you posted as the plan formalizes. Official registration will not start until late spring.

Hi Kate and Gregg. Lisa and I hope our paths cross in Florida this winter but if not we look forward to meeting up in Ontario.

Hi Jim

We will be completing the Great Loop at Sault Ste Marie roughly the end of August 2018 so we will be passing right by. Please add our name to the list of attendees.

Thanks,

Leon and Karen, I have added you to the young list, which already has 6 couples. If you would be so kind to PM me your email address and last name, as I send out group emails out with updates, etc. Enjoy the great Loop, its a wonderful adventure. You must be in Florida or down south far enough to enjoy the warmth.

All,
There is an extensive article in the Jan. 2018 Lake Land Boating magazine about the Trent Severn waterway.

Should make you folks residing up north even more anxious for spring!

Merry Christmas to the Favors from Al & Lisa Dettorre.

Jim please include us in the plan for this years rendezvous in Ontario. Our 2 year search for a 25 SC has been rewarded with the purchase of a 2016 R25 SC we will move to Ohio in early spring. The Michigan trip where we met all of the GREAT tug owners completely sold us on ownership, friendship, and customer support from the manufacturer.

Sincerely
The Dettorre’s

Welcome aboard Al and Lisa and congratulations on your boat purchase. With Al and Lisa added our list is already at 10 boats and we're still 8 months out, must be lots of folks really looking forward to summer boating and exploring the Trent Severn.

Merry Christmas,

Jim n Lisa Favors

Al and Lisa: Congratulations on purchasing a great boat! Glad last years rendezvous paid off for you.
Jim & Lisa: You can put Anita and I (on Audrey Rose) on the tentative list. Trent Severn is on our bucket list and if we can make the dates work with work schedules 2018 is as good a time as any! Merry Christmas to all!

Merry Christmas too you Todd and Anita. I have added you to the growing list, we look forward to seeing you again next summer.

Jim

Yes! Please include Peter and Ann on TugBoat Annie in the plan for this year's rendezvous in the Trent Severn! We bought our 2016 R29 two years ago from Lefroy Harbour so it will be great to take her back to her beginnings and to introduce her to some other Ranger Tugs! We look forward to meeting everyone!
Wishing you a Happy New Year!

The Toronto International Boat Show runs from January 12-21 and Leroy Harbour Marine, Ontario's Ranger Tug dealer and sponsor of next summers Rendezvous will be in attendance. If you plan on going to the boat show Ryan Stovold and or Paul Cornwall will have Rendezvous information and a sign up sheet. Ryan and Paul can be found at the Enercare Centre Exhibition Place, space 1151 and will have an R23, R27 and R29CB on display and for sale. If you plan on going, have or don't have your name on the tentative sign up list or just have questions about the Rendezvous or Ranger Tugs seek out Ryan and Paul.

As of today we have 17 boats tentatively signed up, a pretty good start considering the event is 7 months off.

Rendezvous Update.....Since the last post we have firmed up dockage, catering, event center and more. Dockage will be at the City of ORILLIA Marina, pay for 2 nights and get the third night free. Our events will be held at the Legion Hall, just across the street from the marina. Fluid Motion will be represented with a warranty technition, most likely Ivan Guzman. The August 17-19 event itinerary will be forth coming but will include a pot luck on the first night, 3 catered meals, a pizza party, fun n games, a couple of presentations and the best commraderie any boater would be proud to be part of.

Official registration forms will be posted soon. When they are I'll have finalized the per person registration fee (covering meals, registration ditty bags, pizza party, Legion Hall rental, etc.). The per person fee will be approximately $85. The weekend in ORILLIA will be busy with us, an old car show and a marathon event.

Thanks to Mark Renshaw (R29 Irish Mist) for being our local eyes on the ground and his recommendations. thanks to Ranger Tugs, Cutwater Boats and LEFROY HARBOUR Maina (Ontario's premier Ranger Tug dealer) for helping support this event. As always if you have questions, feel free to post here, email or PM me.

Hi Jim and Lisa,
We are pleased to hear that you are arranging the Orillia Rendezvous, we signed the registration at the Toronto Boat Show when we saw Ryan. There is a 104 page free magazine "Discover Trent_Severn Waterway" available from www.discovermagazines.ca which is updated yearly. We used it a couple of years ago when we went to Lefroy for "Sequel's" 250 hour service and found it very useful.

Hello Dave n Chris, it will be good to see you again. The list you placed your name on was given to me by Ryan. The official registration form with registration fee request will be emailed to everyone on my “request for more info” list within the next 2 weeks. When you and everyone else receives this email you’ll have to print the form off, fill out and return to me to become officially registered. We look forward to having this, our 4th, Rendezvous in ORILLIA.

You’re receiving this email as you are on the list to receive information for this summers Great Lakes Area Ranger Tugs/Cutwater Boats Rendezvous, being held in Orillia Ontario August 17-19. In the attached pdf file you’ll find the official registration form that you’ll need to print, fill out and return to me by May 25th. We have 30 slips being held for us, at the Port of Orillia, until June 1st—therefore the reason for the early registration deadline. If we fill the original 30 slips by then I will be able to ask for additional slips at that time, so earlier is better.

You DO NOT need to contact the marina for slip reservations for the August 17-19 dates, as I’ll provide the attendee list to them once registration is closed. When you arrive at the marina you’ll settle up with them then. Pay for 2 nights and get the third night free. If you are arriving before the Rendezvous starts or staying after you’ll need to make those reservation dates on your own, but not for the Rendezvous dates. The number for the marina is 705-326-6314

For those coming by land, Mark Renshaw/Irish Mist R29, has made arrangements to hold 10 rooms at the 5 star Champlain Waterfront Hotel. Mark obtained a $20 discount off room rates for us. The discounted rate is $169.00 King, $159.00 Queen. This is of course in Canadian dollars so for you US attendees this equates to approxiately $110/$120. If you call ask for Sandra and mention the rooms are being held under “Ranger Tugs”. The phone number is 705-259-5001.

As always if you having any questions please email me, post a question on Tugnuts or call me at 231-642-7625. If I do not answer please leave a message and I’ll return your call.

A few points of interest for those trailering to the Orillia area for our August 17-19 Rendezvous. Lefroy Harbour Resorts is a Ranger Tug dealer and sponsor of our Rendezvous. Lefroy is located about an hour from Orillia and will provide a travel lift for taking our boats off there trailers. They will do this for $50.00 in, $50 out and we can store our trucks and trailers at NO additional costs. Ryan, General Manager, mentioned that although they have no boat ramp to launch from that there is one not to far from Lefroy Harbour. If you're looking for a place to start or end your Trent Severn trip Lefroy's is located at 727 Harbour Street, Lefroy, Ontario and the phone number is 877-453-3769.

Thanks to those that have mailed in there registration forms, the official list is growing. If or when we get close to 30 boats for slips I'll post a reminder so you don't miss out. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email or call me at 231-642-7625. If I do not answer please leave a message and I'll return the call.

Speaking of Ryan at Lefroy, he has made contact with the Canal Operations of the Ontario Waterways and they have agreed to provide a speaker for our Rendezvous, to make a presentation on the Historic Trent Severn Canal System.

Thanks Jim.. I just wanted to add if anyone has ever had their boats lifted in or out at a marina $50 CDN ( around $37 USD ) is a gift. I paid $300 each way in Orillia.
That is a very generous offer by Lefroy.. Those of you who have had their boats loaded by a travel lift know that the lift is the best way to position the boat perfectly on the Trailer.
