Hello
Does anyone know where the fresh water tank is located on a c28?

I was hoping I could find it, remove the lower hose to drain it and apply pressure to the hose to blow out the fresh water system eliminating the need for pink antifreeze.

Remove the fwd bulkhead in the 1/4 berth.

Thank you.

Looks like I can’t just drain the tank into the bilge! It will go into the sleeping area! Oh well!

I think** you can fit a pressure controlled air hose onto the system and force air throughout the boats pipework to winterize. just pump out the tank by opening the faucets first. remember the hot water tank.

the key is not putting too much air pressure into the system..,.

Rocklobster,
If you wish to pressurize your fresh water system, you will need to plug the vent off the tank.

I've winterized my R-27C in a similar manner but without access to the fresh water tank as it is under the cabin sole. I first pump the tank as empty as possible with the normal fresh water pump. I do have easy access to the water pump and water heater. I disconnect both the input and output lines to the pump and blow remaining water back into the tank using the input line. I then blow remaining hot and cold lines using the output line and faucets in the head and galley. I drain the hot water heater and then blow input and output lines again(compressed air is cheap). This method has worked once over the winter of 2018-2019. Hoping it is successful this coming winter.

Good luck.

I just disconnect the cold water, (inlet), line and the hot water, (exit), line from the hot water heater and connect them together with a short piece of copper tubing. You can then just drain the hot water heater itself into the bilge. I pump all of the fresh water out of the tank by opening all faucets. Finally, take a case of RV Antifreeze, (6-1gallon is only around fifteen bucks), pour into the water tank fill and circulate through all of the faucets. The entire process takes about 15 minutes, and you have absolute assurance of no low spots or other voids being frozen by leftover water. Replacing cracked/leaking water lines in a difficult or inaccessible area of a boat is no fun. We get pretty good at winterizing things in North Dakota, as the winters get a bit "fresh" up here... 😉

I’m wondering about where do I apply the pressure. I though about at the tank fill cap but that tank cannot take pressure so that wouldn’t work. I was thinking of taking the output hose and applying it there.

Good point rednuk. I agree. I was trying to avoid the taste issues from using pink in the water tank but this is probably the best assurance. I don’t drink from it anyway so who cares about taste I guess!

On my old boat it was easier to blow out because it had a dock side hookup that I just pressurized there.
