This post is time sensitive and action needs to be taken if you would like to arrive early or stay after the August 7-9 Rendezvous in Charlevoix Michigan. Boat slips fill up quickly during the short Northern Michigan summer but there is a reservation system to reserve slips, up to 6 months in advance. This takes us to February 6th as the first dates you can reserve for August 6th or earlier, February 10 to reserve a slip for after the Rendezvous. NO NEED TO DO ANYTHING FOR THE AUGUST 7-9 Rendezvous dates, as I have them secured and we all pay for them when we check in.....so I’m only talking about dockage before or after our event.

To make a reservation go to http://www.midnrreservations.com on Feb 6th for days before the Rendezvous and Feb 10th for days after. Once you are on the main reservation page click onto the “Harbor” icon. After that, on the left side of screen, scroll down on marinas until you get to Charlevoix City Marina, put in your boat info and requested dates to see what is available and to finalize a reservation.

If you want to come in early or stay after the Rendezvous you’ll want to put this on your to do list for Feb. 6th and or Feb 10th and then make any additional reservations as early in the day as possible.

Here’s an updated group list as I know of things on February 2. If you are on the list and no longer want to be or if you are not on the list and you want to be PM me or post a reply here. If adding to the “I’m interested as things develop” list include your names, boat info, City and State or Provence and email address.

Thanks, Jim F

There is a glitch in the Michigan DNR reservation system that will not allow a reservation to be made in Charlevoix for the day before the rendezvous or the day it ends, or for a period of days before or after, if it includes those dates. After many phone calls and much appreciated assistance from the City of Charlevoix Parks Dept. I have found a way around the problem, sort of. The State (operator of the reservation system) is supposed to be fixing the problem :? , but...
If you are having a problem with a reservation just before or after the rendezvous, post that here and I will jump in with what I have learned. If not, then great! I won't use up the space here unless it will help.

As we get closer to spring and our thoughts turn to the boating season I thought I’d give an update on the August 7-9 CHARLEVOIX Michigan Great Lakes Area Summer Rendezvous. I’m working on securing catering, Coast Guard safety inspections and the itinerary. Reed Yacht Sales of Michigan (Ranger Tug dealer) and MANITOWAC Marine of Wisconsin (Cutwater dealer) will be represented, along with Global Marine Insurance. I’m also working on having someone from the
factory represented. Once I have the catering nailed down I’ll be posting the “Official Regitration” form that you’ll need to fill out and return to me, this will happen some time in April. The registration fee, which includes 3 meals, pizza party, registration filled ditty bag and more will be close to $85.00 US per person. You need not do anything at this time UNLESS you have not let me know that you’d like to be included in our group email list, which is how I’ll be sending out the official registration form.

As always please email, PM, post here or call me with any questions.

emailed you, but it never hurts to be sure........

Hi Dave. I have added you to the list. Towards the end of April, first of May I’ll be emailing everyone on the “keep me informed” list the official registration form. At that time I’ll ask all that are interested in attending to fill that form out and return it to me with the Rendezvous registration fee, not yet firmed up but it should be close to years past, approximately $85 per person.

Hey Jim,
My husband and I are new to Tug ownership and would love go go to the rendezvous!

Hello Marissa and welcome to the Tugnuts family. Official registration will start within a week or so when I email everyone the registration form that will need to be filled out and returned to me with the registration fee. At this time I’d ask that you email me directly or PM me with your names, email address, boat size and name. Once I have this info I’ll add you to the “keep me informed” list from which I’ll be sending everyone the registration information. I’ll also be providing more details about the Rendezvous at that time as well.

Hope to hear back from you soon,

Hi Tugnuts!

Wolfgang and I are SO excited to join this group! We took delivery of our claret red R-23 on Monday and are trying to figure out a name. I am the (female) captain, and we are a German-American couple - any suggestions are welcome! We plan to attend the Charlevoix gathering in August, where we will celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary - we were married in Germany on 8-8-88.

Thanks!

Joyce and Wolfgang

Congratulations on your new R23, you’ll really enjoy your new boat. Regarding the Rendezvous I’ll need you to email or PM me your email address, last names, your city and state and I’ll reach back out to you on Rendezvous plans.

Good luck on the new vessels name,

Jim F

With the summer boating season, in the Great Lakes, in full swing you still have a small opportunity to sign up for the August 7-9th Ranger Tug/Cutwater Boats Rendezvous in beautiful Charlevoix, Michigan.....our 5th Great Lakes Rendezvous. For those that have an interest in attending or have questions you can email me at jimf@favorsweb.com, post here on Tugnuts or PM me. We only have 4 open spots remaining and once these spots are full we’ll take backup names. Cost is $85.00 per person and includes 3 catered meals, pizza party, Fluid Motion ditty bag and more. Dockage is paid upon arrival. If you’ve never been to Charlevoix Michigan you are in for a treat and if you have you know what I’m talking about, come join the fun.

A couple of new developments......one couple attending were planning on coming by land but have just bought an R29S. Not knowing if they’d have a boat or not they book a Bed n Breakfast at Bridge Street Bed n Breakfast. Before they cancel the reservation they wanted to offer it up to someone attending by land. If you’re interested PM me and I’ll connect you to the new owners of the R29S. Next development is I’m working on having a private tour of one of The finest boat houses and boat collections in Charlevoix Michigan. This may or may not happen as the owners are expecting a grandchild. For those that attended the 2017 Rendezvous in Charlevoix you know how great it was. Let’s keep our fingers crossed we get an opportunity to once again tour the “WINN” boathouse.

Jim F

For those trailering your boats to the Rendezvous in Charlevoix I have current info on the closest boat ramp n rig storage. On Lake Charlevoix, within 2 miles of the marina in downtown Charlevoix, is a municipal boat ramp. The ramp is located at the base of Stover Road n off Ferry Street next to Irish Marine. It cost $8.00 to launch for non residents. As there is no overnight parking in the ramp lot conveniently located next door is a storage lot owned by Irish Marine. They charge $7.00 per day and you pay them inside there office. Lastly for those still interested in registering we are down to only 3 open spots. Registration will close when those 3 spots are filled or June 30th., whichever comes first. Come join the camaraderie.

Hi Jim, will a rep from Garmin be available? Or at least a knowledgeable forum to get questions answered. Like why does the time change when crossing the Gulf Stream, then corrects itself when in the Bahamas? And it does it on the reverse course? How do I erase the previous tracks?
