I know, I know, yet another A/C post ;-)

I've read through a stack of threads regarding air conditioning, but still wanted to verify whether any one else is having success with the factory installed AC keeping the main salon cool on an R29 in hot weather. V-berth is no problem, but even with curtains closed and canvas on the windshields, it struggles to stay cool despite the AC running continuously. Trying to determine if this is just "the way it is" or whether there is a potential problem. I am getting 46-50F temps at the cool air vents, so it *is* producing cool air. Outside temps in high 80s/low 90s.

Thanks as always,

David

Check the second filter - not on grille, but on evaporator. Ours was clogged and AC very poor on 31. After cleaning it cools cabin just fine in Florida summer 90s. The stateroom also has a second filter.
Good Luck!

thanks for the tip. will check ASAP!

Is it difficult to get to those two evaporator filters?

Yes very difficult to reach, even to see.
found a removable panel in closet that makes stateroom one easier, but salon one is a long reach.

OK, thanks bill46. Sounds like a job for a professional.

One other thing that should help in the Florida summer: I’m getting marine grade (ceramic) tint applied next week to all windows, doors and hatches. When running with the salon a/c on, the best thing I can say about it is that it does lower the humidity substantially, making the salon reasonably comfortable.
