Subject: 2019 R29 S speakers in windshield eyebrow

Yesterday I was admiring a brand new 2019 R-29 S at my Marina and noted that there are two speakers underneath the windshield's eyebrow. 😱

Is this new for 2019 ?
I assume these two speakers can have their volume adjusted exclusively, right ?
I sure hope they are securely made to be waterproof.

Also, I noted the search light is a different style now .... is it LED or not ?

The windshield's privacy canvas snap into small round black receptacles adhered to the corners of the windshield, much like it does on my 2018 R27/OB. I was discussing this with another R27/OB fella recently and we both agreed that these same small round black snap receptacles could/should also be used for the other windows for attaching the outside privacy canvas rather than RT using the metal snaps that require screwing into the cabin walls around the windows. Would be much cleaner and no screwing into the outside cabin walls would be necessary. .....and of course we all agree that the privacy canvas for the cabin door should be on the outside and not on the inside with the nasty velcro strips....

The eyebrow speakers are controlled along with the cockpit speakers (and command bridge speakers in my case). Mine have received their fair share of saltwater and still work.

The spot light is not LED, I'm guessing it's halogen?

What do you think about the idea of making the small round black receptacles adhered to the corners of the windshield for the privacy canvas to be used elsewhere for the other privacy canvas pieces ?

The front speakers have always bugged me. The fusion stereo has 4 available zones, but only three are used, and both forward and aft exterior speakers are one zone. Rarely would I want both sets of speakers activated. Don’t think it would have been difficult to wire them separately. I initially thought it was a mistake. Does anyone know if it’s an easy fix to isolate the front speakers to be controlled by zone 4?

I intend to reach out to RT about using the 4th zone being setup for the eyebrow speakers exclusively.

I like the black plastic snap receptacles on the glass, very clean look, less metal to maintain. So far they're homing up well. I wonder if they're available in white in case you needed to mount one on the white gelcoat.

If RT adopts these stick on snap receptacles for the outside windows beyond what they already do for the windshield they would need to alter their stock canvas covers for the other windows that employ the metal snaps as they are configured to use the snap receptacles screwed into the outside cabin walls. I don't see this as a difficult challenge for RT.

Seachoice makes a snap receptacle in white with a 3M backing. I purchased a couple last week at my local Ace hardware store.

Oh! I didn't know about this place...I've got some browsing to do.

Edit: Oops... I should have clicked on your link first... I'd previously found these fasteners online,.

Thanks for the link, Bruce... very useful!

Regarding the plastic, adhesive-backed fasteners, google "YKK Snad, 40mm fasteners"... they come in black or white.
