If you are interested in getting together with other Ranger Tugs and exploring the anchorages of the North Channel there is an opportunity this summer. There are many less populated anchorages that present the opportunity to explore the shore and enjoy some beaches and get togethers around a fire. Little Current is a convenient location with an excellent launch ramp and a place for you to leave your tow vehicle. A time has not been chosen yet so if this is something that interests you respond to this post with your name and dates when you are available and we will see if we can pull it off. I am up in the area all July and August with our tug called Wanderer. Ryan, from Lefroy Harbour, is the local Ranger Tug dealer and may be able to participate if there is enough interest.
Looking forward to the summer!

Hello John and thanks for posting this about the upcoming summer cruising season in the North Channel. This is very timely as I was about to make a post that there will not be a Rendezvous in the Great Lakes this summer, as Lisa and I are heading west for the summer. I hope you get a lot of response and get togethers this summer.

It's our intent to be in the North Channel the third or fourth week of July. Not set in stone but that's the target date. Need to be back in Erie by mid August or so.

Sounds like a probable time for a cruise, have you been in the north channel before?

No. This will be our first cruise. We got the boat mid August last year. Our general plan is Erie Canal to Lake Ontario to the Trent Severn. Across Ontario to the North Channel. Come down the west side of Lake Huron to Lake Erie and home. I figure six to eight weeks. The North Channel has been a bucket list trip for about 50 years.

That is a long trip, so much to see that you could spend several years covering each area. I think you are underestimating the time. 8 weeks may be the minimum you would need. But let me know when you plan on being in the north channel, Killarney would be your first stop and the entrance to the area. Plan to spend at least a week to 10 days in the area before heading back south to Tobermory and back down to Lake Erie.
Looking forward to meeting you.
